美國德州大學Arlington校區語言學博士，現此時是台灣國立成功大學台灣文學系ê專任助理教授、mä是台灣羅馬字協會第三屆理事長、台灣東南亞學會第一屆副祕書長。作者ùi大學時代就參與台灣語文運動，bat做過淡江大學台語文社創設社長、學生台灣語文促進會創會幹部。留學美國期間，做過台灣同學會會長、全美台灣學生社社委、北美洲台灣研究年會社委、德州大學LINGUA語言學會會長。
伊ê研究語言包含越南語kap台語，研究領域包含社會語言學、應用語言學kap台語文學。Chit kúi年來伊ê研究重點kh¤g t„語言、文學、文化kap國家認同ê關係，特別是漢字文化圈ê脫漢運動ê理論論述頂頭。

The author Wi-vun Taiffalo Chiung obtained his Ph.D degree in linguistics from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Taiwanese Literature at the National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan. His major research languages include Taiwanese and Vietnamese. His research fields are sociolinguistics and applied linguistics. Currently, he is interested in the relevant studies of language and orthography reforms in Hanji cultural areas, including Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, and China.
Tác giả Wi-vun Taiffalo Chiung là tiến sĩ ngôn ngữ học tại Trường Đại Học Texas-Arlington, Mỹ và hiện nay là Phó Giáo sư của Khoa Văn học Đài Loan, Trường Đại học Thành Công, Đài Loan. Ông chuyên nghiên cứu, so sánh đối chiếu giữa tiếng Đài Loan và tiếng Việt Nam.

Chit本冊ùi漢字文化圈ê視野探討語言、文學kap國家認同建構ê關係。M̄管台灣hām越南是自願iā被迫，lóng經過「中國國族想像」ê時段。對越南來講，現此時in已經徹底解構「中國國族想像」、脫離「中國想像共同體」，成功重建「越南想像共同體」。M̄-koh對台灣來講，國內各族群對中國iáu有bô-kāng程度ê想像kap ǹg-bāng。雖然台灣運命共同體ê意識tùi tio̍h 1980年代以來ê政治運動ê發展mā有chhiâ-iāⁿ、浮頭ê趨勢，m̄-koh若beh講「台灣國族共同體」已經完成“想像”，恐驚á ài koh等一段時間。一個新ê共同體tang-sî chiah會建構完成tō ài看伊解構「舊共同體」ê速度。
This book surveys the relationship among language, literature and national identity through case studies of orthographic transitions within the Hanji sphere, including Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea, Japan and China. Both internal and external factors have contributed to the different outcomes of orthographic reform in these countries. Internal factors include the general public’s demand for literacy and anti-feudal hierarchy. External factors include the political relationships between these countries and the origin of Han characters (i.e. China).
